Don’t Kill my Vibe

Don’t Kill my Vibe

by Drew Melton

I’ve spent a lot of time with friends talking about creative process. We all have our own point of view, our own methods and opinion on what we believe is truly creative. At the end of the day I’m realizing that honesty is the most creative attribute. Do what you want, the way you want it. It may not be “Correct” but it won’t go unnoticed.

A good reminder to keep it fresh, no matter what you do. Always challenge yourself, change it up, and keep moving forward.

Don’t Quit

Don’t Quit

As a designer/creative failure is not just an option but an essential part of the creative process. If I’m not failing I’m not really trying. I would love to provide a sure fire formula for getting rid of the discomfort. All I can say is that the career of a freelance designer is anything but safe and predictable. In the end I was surprised to learn that really failing is not all that bad. After failure… I’m still here. That is probably one of the best feelings I’ve had this year. Being strong when everything goes wrong actually feels really good. It’s worth the risk.

Seek Adventure

Seek Adventure

This phrase stood out to me for a number of reasons. I have always felt a tug at my heart to travel and pursue exciting life experiences. To my surprise I have often found these opportunities intimidating—Despite my desire for adventure. After taking that initial leap into the unknown I find myself ever more grateful for the risk of adventure.

Choosing to do things with ease is really hard work. When I don’t feel the need to perform I am often far more happy with what I make. Also, I’ve been addicted to brush pens lately.

Take Control

Take Control

by Luke Ritchie

Heard this lyric from a drum n’bass tune I heard recently, and really liked the simple powerful message that we need to take control of our lives, and also do something that feels authentic and true to ones self. This is the final result of exploring a more 3 dimensional realistic type style.

Work Harder

Work Harder

I’ve been thinking about working harder…  This doesn’t exactly mean working more for me these days. But it does mean setting aside more focused time for practice. The more I practice the more efficient my creative process becomes and I love that feeling. Here’s to (the good kind) of hard work!
